Short book list for a short month, but this time I manage to squeeze in books that are noticeably disparate. There’s self-help inspired by unicorns, organization, and interior décor taken from literature. Be thankful I limited myself to three, or else you’d be stuck reading a writing textbook, wondering where on Earth I developed by sense of a “fun read”.
If you’d like to catch up on last month’s post, you can find it here.
1) Be More Unicorn: How to Find Your Inner Sparkle, by Joanna Gray
Perfect for those who love unicorns and positivity, this fun little pink book urges the reader to bring the magic of unicorns to bear in life’s everyday challenges. There are tips, exercises, and quotes to re-ignite that rainbow sparkle-eyed view of the world which many leave behind in childhood. Teens and tweens will love this one, I suspect, especially if they enjoy books and unicorns.
2). Organized Simplicity: The Clutter-Free Approach to Intentional Living, by Tsh Oxenreider
I found this book immensely helpful. It is full of short, practical solutions for clutter, disorganization, and overwhelm that will infuse your space with calm and neatness and keep it that way. A godsend if, like me, you crave orderliness but haven’t managed to pull yourself out of the pigpen you’ve let slowly pile up around you.
3). Decorating A Room Of One’s Own, by Susan Harlan
I LOVE this book! English professor Susan Harlan presents décor advice through interviews she’s imagined with famous literary characters. If you’ve ever wondered how Lady Macbeth would keep her castle, or what Mr. Tumnus’s closet looked like, or if Jay Gatsby was really bothered at all about the appearance of his West Egg mansion, this book is up your street. Witty, satirical, and thoroughly charming, it’s the crossover that fills my nerdy heart with joy.
